You see, Martijn wasn’t like the other kids. Instead of spending time with friends and participating in childhood pastimes such as ball games and sport, Martijn decided to spend his time alone. He wandered the streets of Breda, photographing old buildings in ruins and exploring abandoned places. To his mother’s dismay, her obsession with what she perceived as macabre only grew over the years.
