Schmidt joined the team to compete in the 4×400 relay race with three other athletes – Vanessa Aniteye, Meike Gerlach, and Corinna Schwab. The four of them teamed up together, set to make Germany as proud as possible with their performances.
And they succeeded! Their team managed to go back home with the silver medal, which is the second-highest honour and therefore a great accomplishment. Because of this success, Schmidt got a lot of attention… But she actually wasn’t so happy about all of it.
