In many rural places in India, wild elephants just wander around freely. They might not meet locals, but they are known for being majestic and wonderful animals, so the people who live there know have gotten used to them, and they are now respectfully sharing their territory with one another. Because they are allowed their own space, the elephants aren’t threatening humans, but when they do feel like these aren’t respected, they tend to do some damage – not purposefully of course. People who do not usually get to see this kind of thing obviously get amazed by the sight of herds of elephants, but of course there should be some boundaries.
