When the character was created, Betty Boop wasn’t exactly the normal type. The Fleischer Studios wanted her to be cartoon dog Bimbo’s love interest, so they featured her in the cartoon and it actually had a lot more success than what they originally expected. Betty Boop started her life on the screen as a half-human, half-poodle creature, but that didn’t stop the fans from immediately falling in love with her. There was something about this new character, even if she had an hybrid appearance, that appealed to the fans, and they immediately knew she would be special.
