Belize’s Blue Hole is an incredible sight from
the air: a dark ring of azure surrounded by a reef and the turquoise Caribbean
sea. It’s heaven on Earth, or rather sea, for scuba diving. If you get really
close to the edge, you can see just how massive and deep the hole really is.
But not much was known about the hole until a team of conservationists and scientists funded and helmed by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and the grandson of explorer Jaques Cousteau, Fabien Cousteau, attempted to map it out. They had no idea what they would find, and when they reach the bottom they’re astonished.
