Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland

The legend that lives behind the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland is that an Irish giant built it to cross the Irish Sea and reach enemies in Scotland. However, there is a scientific explanation to it – because of volcanic activity, the 40,000 basalt columns were formed about 60 million years ago. And the same phenomenon can be seen in the Isle of Staffa in Scotland.
