If we think only about the weather and the cost of living, Mississippi might seem like a perfect place to retire since it is warm and pretty affordable. Unfortunately there are also several downsides that wouldn’t make it the perfect place for retirement. For instance, it has the second-highest number of individuals age 65 and older living in poverty and the third-lowest life expectancy rate in America. It is also the second to last state in terms of healthcare and more than one in four seniors there do not have a personal doctor… Not something you’d enjoy when getting older!
