An icon of biblical epics on screen, The Ten Commandments has won 9 awards in total but it doesn’t mean it is completely mistake-free! In this particular case, it has nothing to do with make-up but rather with costumes, and in fact with the one worn by Anne Baxter, who portrays the Egyptian queen Nefretiri. Although her dress was fine in terms of style, it is inaccurate in terms of colours since there would have only been natural colourings in 1350 B.C. So wearing an aqua blue dress would have been historically impossible, and even worse she wore an underwire bra underneath it!
