Dorothy Levitt

They were very few famous female drivers at the beginning of the 20th century, and Dorothy Levitt changed that in 1905 in a very impressive way, as she became a world-record-holding car racer. But even before that, she set another record in 1903, recording the fastest speed on water with a whopping 19.3 miles per hour… Impressive!

From 1905, however, she set three world records in under two years, which made her really famous. She became the holder of “longest drive by a lady driver,” then the first to set the Ladies’ World Speed Record at 79.75mph, and then even smashed it at 90.88mph the year after, which explains why she is unsurprisingly nicknamed the “Fastest Girl On Earth.”
