He played central midfielder for Union Magdalena, Millionarios, Deportivo Cali, Montpellier, Real Valladolid, Independiente Medellin, Atletico Junior, Tampa Bay Mutiny, Miami Fusion, Colorado Rapids. Carlos Valderrama stood out for two reasons, his bubble-curled hairstyle and his ability to control a match thanks to his well-thought passes from midfield. Carlos Valderrama was South American Footballer of the Year twice in his career. Thanks to him, he led the national team to assert itself more on the international level for the first time. During the 2006 World Cup, Zinedine Zidane played superbly, apart from one match where he received a red card for a flying headbutt during the final. France won the 1998 World Cup thanks to two headed goals which allowed the country to lift the cup for the first time.
