Mark loved exploring the outdoors, especially the woods to the north of California, and as the director of the local environmental services, his job was to explore the outdoors. Mark knew the forest like the back of his hand, or so he thought. For something that was meant to be remedial work, Mark set off on his duty round of the forest. He was marking trees as usual, when he noticed something different, something that wasn’t there before. When at work, Mark doesn’t tend to focus on anything else but the trees in the forest. But this time, his instinct told him to look elsewhere.
