“The way that we deal with our kids is [that] they are responsible for their lives… Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible. And the concept of punishment – our experience has been [that] it has a little too much of a negative quality,” said Will Smith. The couple have been working towards creating a space that was open so that their children can come to them with any problems they had. When Jaden and Willow were very young, the couple created a “circle of safety.” The idea behind this circle was to allow the children to have open and honest conversations with their parents. This circle would be void of fear and judgement.
