French explorer Samuel de Champlain was the first to hear fascinating stories of a large waterfall during the early 17th century. But it was in 1678 that Niagara was recorded by explorers from Europe for the first time. The same year, Father Louis Hennepin had the opportunity to withhold with his own eyes the jaw-dropping wonder when he went exploring New France or Canada, as we know it today.
