Unfortunately for Solo, some of her comments did not go well with the US Soccer, and after she called the Swedish soccer players “a bunch of cowards” during the USA v. Sweden 2016 game, she was suspended for six months. America’s Soccer President Sunil Gulati commented, saying that her behaviour was “unacceptable and [did] not meet the standard of conduct we require from our national team players”. Understandably, some athletes can get very nervous and sometimes aggressive during games because of the pressure, and that was the case for our goalie!
