When Martijn was a teenager, his walls were filled with the photographs he had taken himself and collected. From the floor to the ceiling, the photographs occupied every inch of the walls. But these were not happy-snaps, as his mother liked to say. Rather, they were snapshots of the dark side of the city. Some he had taken himself, but others were photos he had found in second-hand shops. So when he found an old camera in an antique shop years later, he couldn’t resist the temptation to add it to his collection.
