Melissa Sue Anderson started playing Mary Ingalls when she was just 12 years old. You may think that this was her first role in the industry, but she was already quite an accomplished actor by then. She had acted in hit films like The Brady Bunch and Bewitched, so everyone was already aware of her talent. Though she had a supporting role in Little House on the Prairie, she was still able to shine through, especially in season 4 when her character goes blind. It was a challenging role to play for a teenager but she was committed to doing it well. She even went to an organization that works with blind folks to understand their experiences so that she could portray it authentically.
