Getting the boat ready was usually the easiest part and they spent their time joking around and telling stories. Even if they’d known each other forever, they never ran out of things to talk about.
Every morning, it felt like they had been separated for ten years, and they had plenty to discuss. That morning was just like any other. They got everything ready together, chatting and laughing, and had no idea what awaited.

glasslike, as it often was in the morning. The fishing boat headed for a prime
crabbing spot off the coast of Canada. They were a few miles out when they
reached it, but it was the best place to find crab.
