When the young boy learnt the program was taking place in Richmond, Virginia, he decided he had to go as he believed he would be able to get $100 for his painting. The young boy’s hobby amazed Weiss – he realised that his young guest had a real collection of antiques. When asked what his favourite thing to collect was, the young boy replied: “I like glass, sterling silver, and art”. It was obvious that he had a real passion for antiques – his favourite object was a large silver serving platter, and he was a regular of “junky auctions” in his hometown South Jersey.
