In his biography, David Weiss explained that what fascinated him was to come across unique pieces: “For me, the happy, unexpected ‘discoveries’ originating from private collectors and estates are the most rewarding experiences as an auction house appraiser. The greatest and perhaps most unforgettable of these ‘finds’ have tended to result in the realization of hugely successful prices”. But sometimes guests also make the experience, and when David met the young boy, he was very impressed. “You must be the youngest collector I’ve seen”, he said.
